Case study

ISR with Daphne

Infant swim rescue instruction, presented so that a parent reading at midnight understands the lessons and feels comfortable reaching out.

The business

Daphne teaches infant swim rescue, the self-rescue skills that give a small child a chance if they end up in water alone. In a county with two lakes and a lot of private ponds and pools, that is not an abstract concern. Parents here have real reasons to look for these lessons.

What they needed

This is a service parents research carefully before they commit. The website had to do the explaining that a phone call otherwise has to do: what the lessons are, how they are structured, what a session looks like, and why the approach works. It also had to feel calm. Water safety copy can drift into fear, and that is the wrong tone for a parent trying to make a good decision.

What I built

A clear, warm site organized around the questions parents actually ask, in the order they ask them. Lesson structure and expectations come first, enrollment comes after, and the contact path stays visible throughout without turning the page into a sales pitch.

Typography and spacing carry most of the design work here. The pages are easy to read on a phone at night, the sections are short, and nothing competes with the information a parent came for.

What mattered most

  • A reassuring tone that informs without leaning on fear.
  • Answering the practical questions, including scheduling and what to expect, before asking for contact information.
  • Fast loading and readable type on phones, where most parents do this research.
  • A local presence that fits the lake communities around Rough River Lake and Nolin Lake.

Explaining a service that takes explaining?

Some businesses need a website that teaches before it sells. I build those.
